Introduction
The Book of Esther bursts with excitement from the very first chapter. It reads almost like a royal adventure, complete with kings, queens, secret plots, bold acts of bravery, and surprising turnarounds. Throughout the story, God’s name never appears, yet His hand moves quietly and powerfully in every scene. Because of this, Esther’s story teaches children that God is always at work, even when we can’t see Him.
To begin the lesson, you might say to your students:
“Have you ever felt nervous about speaking up or doing the right thing? Esther felt that way too, but God helped her choose courage.”
Intro Activity Idea:
Start by giving each child a crown cutout. Ask them to write something they are afraid of inside the crown. As they work, explain that Esther also faced fears, yet God strengthened her to act with courage. This simple activity immediately draws children into the lesson, helping them connect their own feelings to Esther’s journey and preparing their hearts for the story ahead.

Bible Story Summary
Esther was a young Jewish girl living far from her homeland in the vast Persian Empire. After Queen Vashti was removed, King Ahasuerus began searching for a new queen, and Esther was chosen for her kindness, beauty, and gentle spirit. Her cousin Mordecai, who had raised her, continued guiding her and encouraging her to trust God through every challenge.
Meanwhile, an important official named Haman became furious when Mordecai refused to bow to him. Driven by pride, he convinced the king to issue a law allowing the destruction of all Jews in the empire. Suddenly, Esther’s people were in great danger.
When Mordecai discovered Haman’s evil plan, he urged Esther to speak to the king. However, approaching the king without an invitation could lead to death, even for the queen. At first, Esther felt afraid, but she responded with faith. She asked all the Jews to fast and pray with her for three days. After seeking God’s help, she stepped forward with courage.
Next, Esther invited the king and Haman to two special banquets. During the second banquet, she revealed the truth: she was Jewish, and Haman’s plan would destroy her and her people. The king reacted with shock and anger. Because of Esther’s courage, Haman was punished, and a new law allowed the Jews to protect themselves from their enemies.
In the end, Esther’s bravery saved an entire nation. Through each twist and turn, God worked quietly behind the scenes, reminding us that He is always present, even when His name is not spoken.
