Learning Objectives
By the end of this lesson, children will:

Introduction
Ask children: “What is your favorite thing in the world—an animal, a tree, the stars, your family?” Let them draw a quick picture or share with a partner. Then say, “Did you know the Bible tells us who made all of those amazing things? Today, we’re going to learn about how God created the whole world in just six days!”

“God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.”
Bible Story: The 7 Days of Creation (Genesis 1–2)
In the very beginning, there was nothing. But then, God spoke—and everything began!
On Day 1, God created light. He separated light from darkness and called them day and night.
On Day 2, God made the sky above the earth.
On Day 3, He created land, seas, and all kinds of plants and trees.
On Day 4, God made the sun, moon, and stars to give light and mark time.
On Day 5, He filled the seas with fish and the skies with birds.
On Day 6, He made animals—and then, the most special creation: people! God made man and woman in His own image.
On Day 7, God rested, not because He was tired, but to enjoy His good creation and show us the importance of rest.
Everything God made was very good!
Key Lessons for Kids
- We should care for the earth because it belongs to God (Genesis 2:15).
- God is the Creator of everything we see and even the things we can’t see (Genesis 1:1).
- We are made in God’s image and that makes every person special (Genesis 1:27).
- God has a plan and purpose for all creation (Genesis 1:31).
- Rest is important, just like God rested on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2–3).
Creative Teaching Ideas
- Creation Numbers Craft: Have children make a foldable booklet with flaps for each day of creation. They can draw or glue in pictures representing what God made on each day.
- Creation Scavenger Hunt: Go outside and find something that God made for each day of creation—like light, plants, animals, etc.
- Story Retelling Game: Use felt pieces or picture cards for each day of creation and let children put them in order as they retell the story.
- Creation Song Time: Sing a fun song that reviews the days of creation. You can even let kids make up hand motions!
- The Creation Dice: This is a classroom favorite; children love to play it. For this game, you need to make a dice with a day of creation on each side (except the seventh day). To play this game, ask the kids to take turns throwing the dice. Depending on the number the kid gets, he/she should say one thing created corresponding to that creation day eg. If a kid gets five, he/she should name a fish or bird. This is a way to review the different creation days, below is an example:
Day 1: Things that give light
Day 2: Things made of water
Day 3 :Trees and flowers
Day 4: Planets, stars, etc.
Day 5: Fish or birds
Day 6: Animals or people
Day 7: It’s not reflected in the dice as God rested on this day
Discussion and Reflection
Encourage kids to think deeper by asking:
❓ What is your favorite thing that God created?
❓ How can we take care of God’s creation?
❓ What do you see today that reminds you God is creative?
