Introduction
Ask the children: “Have you ever helped build something, like a tower with blocks or a sandcastle?”
Activity Idea: Give kids building blocks and challenge them to quickly build a strong wall together. Then connect the activity by explaining that Nehemiah helped build real walls to protect a city, with God’s help!

Bible Story Summary
Nehemiah was an Israelite who lived far away from Jerusalem, serving as a cupbearer to King Artaxerxes of Persia. One day, Nehemiah received terrible news: the walls of Jerusalem were broken down, and the gates had been burned. The city was left unprotected, and the people were in trouble.
Nehemiah’s heart broke for his people. He prayed to God with all his heart, asking for help. God gave Nehemiah favor with the king, who allowed him to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the city walls.
When Nehemiah arrived, he saw how bad things were, but he didn’t give up. He encouraged the people to work together. Even though enemies tried to scare them and stop the work, Nehemiah led with courage. The people prayed, worked hard, and trusted God.
In just 52 days, they rebuilt the walls! The people rejoiced, and Ezra the priest read God’s Law to everyone. There was a great celebration because God had helped them succeed.
