Introductory Activity
Activity: “Who’s Hiding?” Game
Place small toy figures or objects in hidden places around the room (under a cloth, in a basket, behind a pillow). Let children find each one and talk about how it feels to be hidden or protected. This will connect to how Moses was hidden and kept safe.
Memory Verse
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” — Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)
This verse beautifully reminds children that God knows and loves them from the very beginning—just like He knew Moses.
Bible Story (Exodus 2)
The Israelites were living in Egypt, but Pharaoh was afraid of them because there were so many! He made them slaves and treated them very badly. He even gave a terrible order: all baby boys must be thrown into the Nile River!
But one brave mother didn’t give up hope. When she had her baby boy, she saw how special he was and kept him hidden for three months. When she couldn’t hide him any longer, she made a tiny basket, put him inside, and gently placed him among the reeds by the riverbank.
Moses’ sister, Miriam, stayed nearby to watch what would happen. Then something amazing occurred—Pharaoh’s daughter came to the river, saw the basket, and found baby Moses inside! She felt sorry for him and wanted to take care of him.
Miriam quickly ran up and asked, “Would you like me to find someone to take care of the baby for you?” Pharaoh’s daughter said yes, and Miriam brought Moses’ own mother! Moses got to be with his family while growing up safely, and when he was older, he lived in Pharaoh’s palace.
God had a big plan for Moses—to one day lead His people to freedom. But it all started with God’s protection, a loving family, and a baby in a basket.
