A Powerful Lesson from Judges 6–7 for Kids

Bible Story Summary (Judges 6–7)
God’s people were once again in trouble because they had turned away from Him. The Midianites were stealing their crops and making life very hard. Then, God called Gideon, a man who felt small and unimportant, to lead Israel.
Gideon was afraid and doubted God at first. He even asked God for signs to be sure, like the famous fleece test! God patiently showed Gideon that He was truly calling him.
When it was time for battle, Gideon gathered 32,000 men. But God said, “That’s too many!” He wanted everyone to know that the victory was His, not because of human strength. So God told Gideon to reduce his army, first to 10,000, then to just 300 men!
Armed with only trumpets, jars, and torches, Gideon’s small army surrounded the Midianites at night. They blew the trumpets, broke the jars, and shouted, “For the Lord and for Gideon!” The enemy was so frightened, they ran away in confusion. God gave Gideon the victory, just as He promised.

- Faith grows when we obey, even if we feel unsure.
- We don’t need to be strong when God is with us.
