Introduction: Try This!
Invite kids to build a small tent or fort using blankets and chairs. Once inside, ask: “What if this little tent was a place where you could meet with God?” Explain that the Israelites had a special tent called the Tabernacle, a place where they worshiped God and learned to live in His presence.

Bible Story Summary (Exodus 25–27, 35–40)
After the Israelites escaped Egypt and received the Ten Commandments, God gave Moses another special instruction, He told him to build a special tent called the Tabernacle. This tent wasn’t just any tent. It was the place where God would live among His people!
The Tabernacle was made just the way God wanted. It had beautiful curtains, gold-covered furniture, and even a special box called the Ark of the Covenant, where the Ten Commandments were kept. The people gave their best offerings (gold, silver, fabric, and animal skins) to help build it. Everyone worked together joyfully.
God told Moses exactly how to arrange the camp around the Tabernacle. Each tribe had its place, and the Tabernacle was right in the center. That showed that God was the center of their lives!
A cloud covered the Tabernacle during the day, and fire glowed at night. When the cloud moved, the people packed up and followed. When the cloud stayed, they stayed. God was leading them every step of the way.
The Tabernacle reminded the Israelites that God was with them. Even though they were in the wilderness, they were never alone. Today, we don’t need a tent—God lives in our hearts when we trust in Him!
