Introductory Activity
Activity: “Who’s in Charge?” Game
Play a short game where one child gives silly commands (like “hop like a frog!” or “freeze like ice!”) and others follow. Then talk about how in today’s story, Pharaoh thought he was in charge—but God showed that He is the one truly in control!
Memory Verse
“So that you may know that I am the Lord.” — Exodus 10:2b (NIV)
This verse reminds children that God showed His power so everyone would know who He is—a loving and just God who is worthy of our trust and obedience.
Bible Story (Exodus 7–12)
After many years in Egypt, the Israelites had become slaves. They were suffering and crying out to God. God heard their prayers and chose Moses to lead His people out of slavery.
God told Moses to go to Pharaoh and say, “Let my people go!” But Pharaoh refused. So, God sent a series of ten powerful plagues to show His might and to convince Pharaoh to set the Israelites free.
First, the river turned to blood. Then came frogs, gnats, and flies. After that, animals got sick and people had painful sores. There was hail, locusts, and darkness that covered the land. Each time, Pharaoh said no—until the final and most serious plague.
The tenth plague was the death of the firstborn. But God protected the Israelites by telling them to mark their doors. That night, the angel of death passed over their homes. Pharaoh finally let the people go.
The plagues were not just about punishment—they were about God showing that He is real, powerful, and full of mercy. Through all of it, God kept His promise to rescue His people.
