Bible Story (Genesis 25 & 27)
Jacob and Esau were twin brothers. Esau was born first, so he was the older one. He loved to hunt and spend time outside. Jacob was quieter and stayed near the tents. Even though they were twins, they were very different—and sometimes, they didn’t get along.
One day, Esau came home very hungry. Jacob had made some stew, and Esau wanted some. Jacob told Esau he could only have it if he gave up his special birthright—the blessings and responsibilities given to the oldest son. Esau agreed, even though that wasn’t a very wise choice!
Later, when their father Isaac was old and couldn’t see well, he wanted to bless Esau. But Jacob and his mother tricked Isaac. Jacob dressed like Esau, and Isaac gave the blessing to the wrong son. When Esau found out, he was very angry and wanted to hurt Jacob. Jacob had to run away.
Even though Jacob made bad choices, God still loved him and had a plan for his life. This story reminds us that God can forgive us, but we also need to treat others kindly and honestly.
